HC Deb 09 December 1931 vol 260 cc1847-8
26. Mr. T. GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has come to a decision on the proposal to appoint a Departmental Committee to examine all questions affecting road signs, including light signals; and, if so, can he state the terms of reference and the personnel of the committee?

Mr. PYBUS

I have now appointed Departmental Committee, under the chairmanship of Sir Henry Maybury, with the following terms of reference: To consider the existing system of 'Traffic Signs' as defined in Section 48 of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, and to make recommendations as to the exercise by the Minister of Transport of his powers under that Section. I propose, if the hon. Member has no objection, to circulate the list of the members of the committee in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
