§ The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)The estimated cost of the erection of the new block of Government buildings, which it was proposed to erect on the site of Whitehall Gardens and Montagu House, was £2,215,000. The total annual rental at present paid for hired premises, which would be vacated on completion of the new building, is £144,062. In addition, Government property of an annual value of £22,163 would be available for disposal.
