HC Deb 28 April 1931 vol 251 c1449
59. Major EDMONDSON

asked the Minister of Health whether, having regard to resolutions passed at a public meeting held in Brackley, Northamptonshire, on 31st March last, protesting against proposals of the Northamptonshire County Council to close Poor Law institution in South Northamptonshire, he proposes to take any further steps to ascertain whether the scheme prepared by the county council is necessary or justified; and whether it is approved by the inhabitants and ratepayers of the district?

Miss LAWRENCE

My right hon. Friend has been in communication with the county council on the subject of the protests received. He will give due weight to the merits of the protests before coming to a decision, and he does not think that further information of the kind suggested is necessary.
