HC Deb 22 April 1931 vol 251 cc963-4
25. Mr. MILLS

asked the Minister of Transport if his attention has been called to the overcrowding daily taking place on the railway service between Dartford and London on the workmen's trains, particularly on the train leaving Dartford at 7.22 a.m.; and whether, in view of the rapid growth of the Barnehurst, Bexley Heath, and Welling areas, he will cause inquiries to be made as to the comparative development of the railway service?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

My attention has been called to the overcrowding of this train, and I have been informed by the railway company that arrangements have been made for a relief train to be provided when the time-table is next reissued, which I understand will be early in July next. The company state that it is not possible to make the alteration before as the running of this relief train will involve numerous alterations to other services.
