HC Deb 16 April 1931 vol 251 c331
10. Mr. DOUGLAS HACKING

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will state the number of persons employed in repair work and overhauling at the official motor repair depot of the Metropolitan Police force; and whether any repair work is effected elsewhere?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Clynes)

The staff employed at the Metropolitan Police motor repair shops at Barnes on repairing or overhauling police cars numbers approximately 60, exclusive of supervisory and clerical staff. Small running repairs are carried out at Lambeth garage and similar repairs will also be done at three district garages in course of erection. New cars are repaired by the makers during the period of guarantee and some other repairs are carried out by private firms for special reasons or as regards special accessories or processes.

Mr. HACKING

Are all these 60 people fully employed?

Mr. CLYNES

I shall require notice if other details on this subject are required.
