asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed men, women and juveniles in Bethnal Green at any convenient date in February, March, and April, 1928, 1929, 1930, and 1931, respectively?

As the reply includes a table of figures, I will circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

; Can the right hon. Lady say whether or not the figures indicate that since April, 1929, the increase of unemployment in that area is about three-fold?

Miss BONDFIELD

I will give two sets of figures, if the hon. and gallant Member wishes. On 11th February, 1929, the total was 2,979, and on the 16th March, 1931, the total was 6,881.

Has there been an increase in the attendances at the juvenile employment centres in that area?

Miss BONDFIELD

A very great increase.
