HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 cc196-7
47. Major CARVER

asked the Prime Minister if he can state the terms of the reply to the National Farmers' Union deputation which was received on 15th October?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Dr. Addison)

I have been asked to reply. The deputation from the National Farmer & Union was received by me, and I replied to the various points raised by the spokesman.

70. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he can report any action which the Government proposes to take as a result of the deputation which he recently received from the National Farmers' Union?

Dr. ADDISON

The deputation practically confined itself to asking for an immediate subsidy, and the Government have repeatedly stated that crude subsidies form no part of their agricultural policy.

Mr. ALBERY

Does the right hon. Gentleman hold the view that there is no exceptional crisis in the farming industry at the present time?

Dr. ADDISON

The legislative programme shortly to be submitted to Parliament will provide the answer to that question.
