HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 c176
2. Major NATHAN

asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed persons in Bethnal Green at any convenient date in June, July, August, September, and October, 1928, 1929, and 1930, respectively; and, by trades, the distribution of those unemployed?

Miss BONDFIELD

As the reply includes a table of figures, I will, if I may, circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following is the reply:

Persons resident in the Metropolitan Borough of Bethnal Green on the Registers of Employment Exchanges.
Date. (Middle of month). 1928. 1929. 1930.
June 2,567 2,658 4,323
July 2,816 2,725 4,693
August 3,065 2,680 5,030
September 2,757 2,475 4,661
October 2,674 2,570 4,813

It is regretted that an industrial analysis of these figures is not available, but, if desired, such an analysis could be given for the register of the Shoreditch Exchange.
