HC Deb 27 November 1930 vol 245 cc1472-3
29. Sir PHILIP RICHARDSON

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to a case in which the registration of aliens officer for the Chertsey district summoned a woman owing to the negligence of the Home Office, which had failed to return her passport, and that the case was dismissed; and will he explain the reason for the negligence and cause an investigation to be made into the general working of the passport department of the Home Office?

Mr. CLYNES

I have looked into the case to which I think the hon. Baronet refers, and I cannot agree that there was any negligence on the part of my Department, or that it was in any way responsible for the alien's failure to register.
