§ 2. Mr. MANDERasked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that, as disclosed in the report on profit sharing and co-opartnership in 1929 in the Ministry of Labour Gazette for July, 1930, approximately only 1 per cent. of the employed population is included in schemes of this nature, she will consider the advisability of taking action to encourage and stimulate the more rapid development of the movement?
§ Miss BONDFIELDAs I informed the hon. Member in November of last year, in my view, schemes of this character can only be put into successful operation as the result of voluntary action by the parties directly concerned. I agree with the views on this matter expressed by the Balfour Committee.
§ Mr. MANDERIs the Minister of Labour prepared to do something more effective in order to make the workers more than mere weekly wage earners, and to give them a share in the profits?
