HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 cc38-9
67. Mr. SHEPHERD

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of members he has appointed to the committee on rural housing; and whether any of them are directly representative of agricultural labourers?

Dr. ADDISON

The Departmental Committee recently appointed jointly by the Minister of Health and myself to inquire into the conditions of occupation of agricultural cottages consists of seven members. No member is directly representative of a particular interest in the sense that he was appointed on the recommendation of any organisation concerned, but my hon. Friend the Member for Wellingborough (Mr. Dallas), who is on the Committee, has for many years been prominently connected with one of the Trade Unions which represents agricultural workers.

Mr. GRANVILLE

Is it the intention of the right hon. Gentleman to invite a representative of the Liberal party to sit on that committee?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member ought to give notice of that question.
