§ 43. Mr. FREEMANasked the Home Secretary whether one experiment on living animals for the purpose of vivisection may involve more than one animal; and, if so, how many animals were involved in the 403,141 experiments performed last year?
§ Mr. CLYNESThe answer to the first paragraph of the question is in the negative. With regard to the second paragraph, this information is not in my possession.
§ Mr. FREEMANWill my right hon. Friend consider the desirability of keeping a record so that the public may know how many millions of animals may be experimented upon for this purpose?
§ Mr. CLYNESAs there are altogether more than 400,000 experiments, I can assure my hon. Friend that it would be extremely difficult and costly to keep such a record.
