asked the Minister of Labour the total increase in the number of the staff employed in the Employment Exchanges since 1st June, 1929?

Miss BONDFIELD

The total staff of the divisional offices and Employment Exchanges (excluding cleaners) was 11,717 on 27th May, 1929, and 16,735 or, 3rd November, 1930, an increase of 5,018.

Is this one of the Government's methods of solving the unemployment question?

Can the right hon. Lady give the figures for the numbers signing on on those days?
