HC Deb 06 November 1930 vol 244 c1023
43. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Home Secretary how many Russian students have been granted visas for the purpose of studying production methods in British factories?

Mr. CLYNES

Since the resumption of diplomatic relations with the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, 34 visas have been authorised for Soviet citizens desirous of proceeding to the United Kingdom in order to study methods of production in British factories.

Mr. CAMPBELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman say how long these students are allowed to stay in this country?

Mr. CLYNES

In all cases their stay is for a fixed period, but I could not state the duration without notice.

Captain P. MACDONALD

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the production on which these students are engaged is propaganda against this country?
