HC Deb 03 November 1930 vol 244 cc467-8
49. Mr. EDMUNDS

asked the Prime Minister whether he has now ascertained the views of Members as to earlier sittings on Fridays; and whether he proposes to amend the Standing Orders of the House to give effect to the recommendation of the Select Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

No representations on the subject have reached me since, on the 3rd July last, I informed the House that, should there appear to be a widespread desire for the change it could be tried, as an experiment, this autumn. In the circumstances I think it would be preferable to await re-examination of the problem by the Select Committee on Procedure which it is proposed to set up forthwith.
