HC Deb 03 November 1930 vol 244 c467
47. Commander SOUTHBY

asked the Prime Minister whether he is in a position to make a statement regarding the negotiations between France and Italy upon their respective naval construction programmes up to 1936; and whether he will state the percentage of tonnage above that allowed to Italy which France would, under the French proposals, have the right to build?

The PRIME MINISTER

While informal negotiations have taken place between France and Italy since the adjournment of the Naval Conference, I understand that no agreement has yet been reached, and I am not in a position to make any statement on the questions raised.
