HC Deb 03 November 1930 vol 244 c461
67. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Agriculture what progress has been made, during the years 1928 and 1929, with the development of the co-operative movement among inshore fishermen for the purpose of buying and selling; and can he state the amount of grants made from the Department fund through the Fishery Organisation Society during these periods?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Dr. Addison)

I am sending my hon. Friend copies of the reports of the Fisheries Organisation Society for 1928 and 1929, which contain full information with regard to the trade done by affiliated fishermen's co-operative societies during the years in question. With reference to the second part of the question, grants amounting, in 1928, to £1,305, and, in 1929, to amounting, were made from the Development Fund to the Fisheries Organisation Society for the furtherance of this work.

Mr. DAY

Does that show a progressive development in this co-operation?

Dr. ADDISON

A good many considerations are involved.
