HC Deb 03 November 1930 vol 244 c465
48. Mr. HAMMERSLEY

asked the Prime Minister if he will provide an early day for a debate on the position of the cotton industry in relation to the recommendations of the Cotton Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

In view of the very heavy calls on parliamentary time and of the fact that the subject to which the hon. Member refers was dealt with in the general debate on Thursday last, I am afraid that I cannot see my way to provide a special clay in addition to the opportunities which may arise, in connection with notices already on the Paper, for the discussion of this subject.

Mr. HAMMERSLEY

Is the right hon. Gentleman a are that since the publication of the Government's recommendations there has been no opportunity of discussing this matter, except in the most perfunctory fashion?
