HC Deb 26 May 1930 vol 239 cc795-6
24. Captain CAZALET

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made in acquiring a permanent embassy in Moscow?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)

I have been asked to reply. An offer has been accepted of a long lease of a suitable house on the Sofeysky Quay, and the draft lease is at present under consideration.

Captain CAZALET

When does the right hon. Gentleman think the Embassy will be installed?

Mr. LANSBURY

I think there will not be very much delay now. I am hopeful to get a settlement in the next few days.

Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOX

Is not a long lease rather risky?
