HC Deb 22 May 1930 vol 239 c577
64. Mr. PRICE (for Mr. CAPE)

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that physical tests are at present being imposed on recipients of outdoor relief in the mid-Cumberland relief committee area, and that the institute at Maryport has recently ordered 500 sleepers from the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company for the purpose of chopping up under the test-work schemes; whether he is aware that the wood blocks, chopped by the test workers, have been sold; and whether, in view of the recommendations contained in Circular No. 1069 on poor relief, he will say what steps he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the negative. I will make inquiries and communicate further with my hon. Friend.
