HC Deb 22 May 1930 vol 239 c547
20. Mr. BECKETT

asked the Minister of Labour the total number of unemployed persons in Camberwell on 1st May, 1928, 1929 and 1930, respectively?

Miss BONDFIELD

At 5th May, 1930, there were 6,309 persons residing in the Metropolitan borough of Camberwell on the registers of Employment Exchanges, as compared with 3,940 at 6th May, 1929, and with 3,446 at 7th May, 1928.

Mr. BECKETT

Is the Minister of Labour aware that this is one of the districts to which labour has been transferred, and, in view of the figures, will she stop transference to this area?

Miss BONDFIELD

The question of the unemployment figures in an area recognised as a transferable area is being watched.
