HC Deb 22 May 1930 vol 239 c544
1. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Labour how many unemployed persons signing at the Borough Employment Exchange for the six months ended to the last convenient date have been found employment through the medium of that Exchange; and can she state the number of persons who have been disallowed benefit through the same period for any reasons?

The MINISTER of LABOUR (Miss Bondfield)

During the period 12th November, 1929, to 12th May, 1930, 9,570 persons on the registers of the Borough Employment Exchange were placed in employment by that Exchange. During the same period 2,282 applications for benefit made at that Exchange were disallowed.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Lady say whether statistics are available with reference to the grounds for disallowance?

Miss BONDFIELD

I must have notice of that question.
