§ 71. Mr. MALONEasked the First Commissioner of Works what is the proportion of Dutch or foreign bulbs used by his Department in the London parks?
§ Mr. LANSBURYAssuming that my hon. Friend's question refers to the spring-flowering bulbs now in bloom, the answer is that only about 4 per cent. of these are of foreign origin. The foreign bulbs planted are of certain special varieties which cannot be readily obtained in this country. I should like to pay a tribute to the growers and those responsible for their cultivation, in which I feel sure that hon. Members and the public who have seen the display of tulips in St. James's Park and elsewhere, or may yet see it, would wish to join.
