HC Deb 19 May 1930 vol 239 c22
33. Mr. DAY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the resolution of the Sixth Assembly of the League of Nations, recommending that statistics should be furnished in the form of the models embodied in an annex to the Arms Traffic Convention of 1925, has been adopted by His Majesty's Government; and whether any members and non-member States now transmit to the secretariat documents which relate to the international traffic in arms?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The coming into force of the ratification by His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom of the Arms Traffic Convention has been made by them conditional on similar ratification by the chief arms-producing countries. His Majesty's Government do not feel able, pending this coming into force, for which they are pressing, to adopt the form of the models embodied in an annex to that Convention. As regards the second part of the question, I have no knowledge that any States at present transmit to the Secretariat General of the League of Nations documents which relate to the international traffic in arms, but if my hon. Friend so desires, I will make further inquiries into the matter.

Mr. DAY

Has there been any change in the system of the preparation of statistics recently?

Mr. HENDERSON

I am afraid I must have notice of that question.
