HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 cc1859-60
22. Sir GEORGE PENNY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what was the daily cost to public funds of the meetings of the Naval Conference in London; and what this amounted to in the aggregate?

Mr. DALTON

The daily cost of the Conference, which is charged to the Foreign Office Vote, is estimated at, approximately, £85, and the total charge on this Vote in respect of the Conference at about £7,500. I am informed that the cost of the Conference falling on other Votes amounts to £9,100, making an aggregate of £16,000, which is at the rate of £182 a day for the period of 91 days.

Mr. T. WILLIAMS

Can the Under-Secretary give any estimate of the actual savings effected by the Conference?

Mr. DALTON

The First Lord of the Admiralty will deal with that matter.
