HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 cc1843-4
1. Mr. DAY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information of cases in which English women and girls are subjected to medical examination on arrival at foreign ports; and can he give particulars?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Dalton)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to a similar question put by the hon. Member for Leith (Mr. E. Brown) on the 14th April.

Mr. DAY

Has my hon. Friend's attention been drawn to the fact that certain ladies at South American ports have had to expose their vaccination marks, even when they have been on the lower limbs, without the presence of a nurse or a lady attendant?

Mr. DALTON

No. My right hon. Friend's attention has not been drawn to this fact, but we shall be very glad, if my hon. Friend will send us particulars, to look into them.

Mr. MATTERS

Is my hon. Friend aware of the fact that the South American officials accept the certificate of vaccination of the vaccination medical officer?

Mr. DALTON

I am glad to have that additional information, and perhaps my hon. Friend will send me some further particulars.
