HC Deb 12 May 1930 vol 238 cc1443-4
39. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can now state the result of his conversations with the French Government over the Dead Sea concessions; and whether a settlement has been reached or has it been decided to take the matter before the League of Nations?

Mr. DALTON

I am not yet in a position to add anything to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member on 30th April.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Can the hon. Gentleman say when he will be in a position, because his reply stated that he would shortly be in a position to do so?

Mr. DALTON

We all regret the delay, but I hope that very soon I shall be able to give a more definite reply. Perhaps the hon. and gallant Member will put down another question in a short time.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

What would the hon. Gentleman call a short time?

Mr. DALTON

A fortnight.
