HC Deb 12 May 1930 vol 238 c1444
42. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any communications have been received from the French Government since the Report of the Peacock Committee in favour of the Channel Tunnel project; and, if so, whether he will state their nature?

Mr. DALTON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and the second part, therefore, does not arise.

49. Mr. VAUGHAN

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has yet considered the nature of the covenant to be drawn up between this country and France before the construction of the Channel Tunnel can be commenced; and whether any preliminary correspondence has yet taken place between his Department and the French Government with a view to discussing the various aspects of the problem?

Mr. DALTON

The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative.
