HC Deb 31 March 1930 vol 237 cc866-7
6. Mr. WELLOCK

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the date is yet fixed for the convening of the conference of local governments on opium policy; how the conference will be composed; and whether the proceedings will be public?

Mr. BENN

I fear I can add nothing at present to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Southern Derbyshire (Major Pole) on the 10th February of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy.

Mr. WELLOCK

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when he is likely to be in a position to give a reply?

Mr. BENN

No. The reply that was given was that the meeting was to take place in the first part of May. I do not know that any other information beyond that is at my disposal.
