HC Deb 13 March 1930 vol 236 c1492
70. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the Scarborough Corporation, who have erected 192 houses on the Northstead estate under the terms of the Housing Act, 1924, are charging 9s. per week plus rates for houses whose economic rent should be 6s. 4d. per week; and what steps he has taken to ensure that the tenants shall enjoy the benefits of the Act?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I am in communication with the council on the subject of the rents charged for houses on this estate, and am awaiting further particulars to be furnished by them.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Will the right hon. Gentleman insist upon the tenants in the houses of this particular estate securing all the benefits to which they are entitled under the 1924 Housing Act?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Certainly, but I must have all the information first.
