asked the Minister of Labour how many workers in the silk trade were registered as unemployed at the Macclesfield Employment Exchange on the last available date?

Miss BONDFIELD

At 24th February, 1930, the number of insured persons, aged 16 to 64, classified as belonging to the silk and artificial silk industry, recorded as unemployed at Macclesfield was 871, of whom 275 were wholly unemployed and 596 temporarily stopped from the services of their employers.
