HC Deb 13 March 1930 vol 236 c1460
5. Sir GERALD HURST

asked the Minister of Labour how many persons are registered as unemployed, according to the latest available figures, in Lancashire; and what is the increase in their number since May, 1929?

Miss BONDFIELD

On 3rd March, 1930, there were 333,412 persons on the registers of Employment Exchanges in Lancashire; an increase of 103,179 as compared with 27th May, 1929.

Sir G. HURST

Will the right hon. Lady communicate those figures to the Chancellor of the Exchequer before he decides to impose fresh charges on industry?
