HC Deb 05 March 1930 vol 236 cc415-6
28. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will explain the changes that have been made by the latest Fleet Order with regard to the assessment of widows' pensions and children's allowances in respect of officers; and what are the reasons for these changes?

Mr. AMMON

Under the regulation recently promulgated, the re-employment of an officer after his removal from the Active List in any future war or emergency will not confer any benefit on his widow and children unless his death be attributable to the conditions of the service. The changes were decided on their merits with the object of removing various anomalies, and are common to the three Services.
