HC Deb 06 June 1930 vol 239 c2538
4. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention, during the previous 12 months, has been directed to the publication of any particular undesirable books; and whether he proposes to ask Parliament for any further powers to deal with such books?

Mr. CLYNES

Yes, Sir. Representations have been made to me from time to time in regard to particular books and I have considered in each case what action, if any, was desirable. As at present advised, I do not think that any case has been made out for seeking further statutory power.

Mr. DAY

Has my right hon. Friend sufficient power to deal with the matter?

Mr. CLYNES

Yes, power has been granted to me.
