HC Deb 06 June 1930 vol 239 cc2538-9
5. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary whether he can state the number of warning letters that have been issued by the Metropolitan Police to motorists reported for minor motoring offences for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date?

Mr. CLYNES

During the 12 months ended 31st May, 1930, 24,859 warning letters were sent to persons reported for minor motoring offences.

Mr. DAY

Does my right hon. Friend intend to increase the practice of sending these letters instead of starting prosecutions for small offences?

Mr. CLYNES

I do not know of any necessity for increasing the practice.
