HC Deb 06 June 1930 vol 239 c2553
32. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the Rent Restrictions Act causes much hardship to small property owners, especially those who wish to obtain possession of their houses for their own use; and whether he proposes to introduce legislation to amend this Act?

Mr. GREENWOOD

As I have intimated in reply to recent questions, it will not be practicable to introduce legislation to amend the Rent Restrictions Act in the near Future.

Lieut-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

Does the right hon. Gentleman agree that this Act is full of anomalies, and that it results in hardships?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I realise the anomalies, but they are of very long standing.

Dr. VERNON DAVIES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in the Housing (No. 2) Bill he has an opportunity of dealing with this matter?
