HC Deb 02 June 1930 vol 239 c1753
39. Mr. HACKING

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether any insurance has been effected under the exports credits guarantee scheme in connection with the export of 20 12-ton tanks, 20 6-ton tanks, and 20 Carden-Lloyd light armoured vehicles to the Russian Soviet Government?

Mr. GILLETT

I would refer the right hon. Gentleman to the answer which I gave on the 26th May to a question put to me by the hon. Member for Lancaster (Mr. Ramsbotham), and of which I are sending him a copy.

Mr. HACKING

Is it the policy of the Government to grant further facilities to enable exporters from this country to send munitions of war into Russia?

Mr. GILLETT

If the right hon. Gentleman is referring to the Export Credits Guarantee Department, he is well aware that we have no power to do anything of the kind under the Act of Parliament.

Mr. HACKING

Is the hon. Gentleman's wish that we should grant other facilities?
