HC Deb 30 July 1930 vol 242 c464
10. Mr. T. LEWIS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will consider giving selected naval ratings before they are commissioned a similar syllabus of training to that for special entry cadets, and thus obviate their being hampered if, during the period immediately following selection, they were not distinguished from the ex-cadet sub-lieutenants, whose preliminary qualifications would be quite different?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. A. V. Alexander)

The suggestion will be brought to the notice of the proposed committee, which as stated on 23rd July in reply to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Central Portsmouth (Captain Hall) (OFFICIAL REPORT, Column 2127), will consider all aspects of the problem.
