§ 63. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOX
asked the First Commissioner of Works what is the length of the lease for which the house rented for His Majesty's Embassy in Moscow has been taken; what will be the annual rent; and to whom will it be paid?
§ The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)
The lease is for 20 years at a rent of £4,500 per 463 annum. The rent will be paid to the Central Bureau for Assistance to Foreigners.
§ Sir BERTRAM FALLE
Was there no additional payment for improving and rebuilding the house, and can the right hon. Gentleman say the terms of the Ambassador in this country?
§ Mr. LANSBURY
I know nothing about the terms of the Russian Ambassador in this country. If the hon. Baronet will put down a question, I shall be glad to answer the earlier part of his supplementary question, but I think I gave an answer to that some time ago.
§ Sir A. KNOX
As this £4,500 has been paid to foreigners, could the right hon. Gentleman see that some of it is given to the original and rightful owners of the house, two ladies who are now penniless?
