HC Deb 21 July 1930 vol 241 cc1747-8
63. Mr. EDE

asked the Minister of Labour how many men are employed on the schemes being undertaken with the aid of grants for the more effective draining of the Wey and Thames valleys; and how many of these were recruited through the Employment Exchanges?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Lawson)

I presume my hon. Friend is referring to a scheme promoted by the Thames Conservancy and the Wey Im provement Committee with assistance from the Unemployment Grants Committee. 106 men are at present employed on the work, 60 of whom were engaged through the Employment Exchanges.
