HC Deb 14 July 1930 vol 241 cc930-1
69. Dr. DAVIES

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the full reduction in the number of directors of the Communications Company has been carried out in accordance with Recommendation IV of the report of the Imperial Wireless and Cable Conference; and, if not, does he propose to insist upon early compliance with the recommendation?

Mr. WILLIAM WHITELEY (Lord of the Treasury)

The hon. Member's question refers presumably to the statement in the report of the Imperial Wireless and Cable Conference that it had been proposed to, and accepted by, the companies that, as and when opportunities offered, the number of directors would be reduced to, say, 12, including the two directors approved by His Majesty's Government. My hon. Friend does not know to what extent it has already been found possible to effect the reduction or numbers thus contemplated, nor has he any power to take action on the lines suggested in the latter part of the question.
