HC Deb 17 February 1930 vol 235 cc920-1
67. Mr. EDE

asked the Minister of Agriculture what is the annual sum now payable by the State to the county councils in respect of the county deficits on the working of the post-War small holdings; and what relation this bears to the annual charge for the purchase money of the land owned by the local authorities for this purpose?

Mr. N. BUXTON

The valuation made as at the 31st March, 1926, includes pre-War as well as post-War small holdings and the figures cannot be separated. For the current year, the small holdings charges payable by councils amount, in round figures, to £1,250,000, and the Ministry's contribution thereto is £848,000, or 68 per cent.
