HC Deb 03 February 1930 vol 234 cc1470-1
8. Earl WINTERTON

asked the Secretary of State for India whether there is any prospect of the Bombay-Karachi air route being started during the present year; and, if so, by what company the service will be operated?

Mr. BENN

I have just heard from the Government of India that in view of the negotiations which are taking place it would be premature to make any announcement on this subject at present.

Earl WINTERTON

When is the right hon. Gentleman likely to be in a position to make a statement, in view of the long period during which this matter has been under consideration?

Mr. BENN

I will keep in touch with the Noble Lord and will make a statement at the very earliest opportunity, consistent with the public interest.
