HC Deb 04 December 1930 vol 245 cc2361-2
30. Mr. HARDIE

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that the terms proposed by the coal-owners of Scotland do not comply with the provisions of the Coal Mines Act, 1930, the miners thereby rendered idle will be paid full benefit at the Employment Exchanges?

Miss BONDFIELD

It is not possible to say in advance what the decision of the statutory authorities may be.

Mr. HARDIE

In view of the fact that the workers concerned are obeying the law while the employers are disobeying the law, cannot sonic definite statement be made on this matter; and have not the Government any interest in what is to take place in regard to Employment Exchange conditions in the circumstances I have indicated?

Miss BONDFIELD

I have no authority in this matter.
