HC Deb 16 April 1930 vol 237 cc2896-7
47. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether the wages of the workers employed at Lennox Moor are to be increased; and, if at, by what amount?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. STEPHEN

Is my hon. Friend aware that there is great discontent among the workers and that they are not receiving a fair wage, and will he look into the matter again?

Mr. SMITH

I was not aware of that fact, but I will take steps to have it mentioned in the proper quarter.

Mr. C. WILLIAMS

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that they are not the only people who are discontented with this Government?

Mr. SMITH

I was not aware of that.

Mr. BROCKWAY

Can my hon. Friend tell us what the present wage rates are?

Mr. SMITH

I am under the impression that the wage rate in this case is 38s. 3d. per week.
