HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 c1718
52. Mr. BRACKEN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the policy of the Government regarding the proposed international bank?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Before the Financial Secretary answers Question 52, may I ask whether any misadventure has occurred to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, seeing that he is not in his place on the particular day reserved for questions to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, to answer questions of grave importance, affecting not only his Department but questions of public policy?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

If the right hon. Gentleman had been a little more patient, when the question about which he is particularly anxious comes on I was going to make a statement that will fully satisfy him.

In reply to Question Number 52, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on the 5th November to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, East (Mr. Mander), of which I am sending him a copy.

Mr. BRACKEN

May I ask whether the House is to have an opportunity of discussing the proposal before the Government give sanction to it?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

That question does not arise.
