asked the Minister of Pensions how many disabled men in receipt of pensions require to use mechanically-propelled chairs to get about; what is the original cost of such chairs; what is the amount of the annual expense entailed in running them; and what proportion of these expenses is met by his Department?

Mr. ROBERTS

The Ministry have supplied tricycles for mechanical propulsion to the number of 2,184, at an original cost of £25 to £30 a piece. The Ministry defray expenses of upkeep of the vehicle as supplied by them on the basis of fair wear and tear at a cost of close upon £5,000 a year.
