HC Deb 11 November 1929 vol 231 cc1499-500
14. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any further in formation with regard to the French claim to the Dead Sea concessions; and whether the question is to be referred to The Hague?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The French Ambassador was informed in a written Note, dated the 20th of August, of the reasons for which His Majesty's Government were unable to accept His Excellency's suggestion that this dispute was one which they should agree to submit to arbitration. I have now received a further communication from His Excellency on this subject, and the reply to be made thereto is under consideration.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Is this a case of the Foreign Office being called in to correct the blunders made by the Colonial Office?

Lieut-Commander KENWORTHY

No Government Department makes blunders.
