HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 c1221
20. Lord EUSTACE PERCY

asked the Minister of Labour what measures the Government propose to take to counteract the effect which will be produced by the raising of the school-leaving age in accentuating the fluctuations in the number of juveniles in or available for employment during the next decade?

Miss BONDFIELD

It is in my opinion necessary to consider the whole question of the prospective supply of and demand for juvenile labour in different parts of the country, and I have decided to ask the two national Advisory Councils for Juvenile Employment to consider this question and to advise as to any measures which should be taken for the purpose of adjusting the relations between the supply and the demand.

Mr. BEAUMONT

Will the right hon. Lady also consult the local unemployment committees?

Miss BONDFIELD

That comes into the machinery.
