HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 c599
69. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Minister of Agriculture the amount of money that it is proposed to spend in the near future on the draining and reclamation of new land?

Mr. N. BUXTON

I would refer the hon. and gallant Gentleman to the reply which the Parliamentary (Secretary to the Ministry gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Kenworthy) on the 30th ultimo, of which I am sending him a copy.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Seeing that over half-a-million acres have gone out of cultivation would it not he advisable to spend some of the money to be spent on drainage in keeping this land under cultivation and employing workers on it?
